What is an online silent auction?
Rather than an auctioneer calling out prices for items and taking raised hands as bids, a silent auction is all done on paper or online (hence the 'silent'). In non-Covid times we would have had a great big fancy do with everyone crammed in sharing food and drink, and placing their bids. But we've found a way through it - to still fundraise and hopefully spread some happiness and excitement to our local communities by doing the auction online!
How does it work?
Scroll down this page to see the 47 items up for grabs, all VERY generously gifted to us by local friends, family, and businesses. You'll see each item has an 'item number', a brief description of what you will be getting if you win, and a starting bid or current highest bid.
I've seen some great iTems - how do I place a bid?!
Each item has a 'BID FOR ME!' button. Click on this and you will be taken to a new page where you can submit your details and your bid. Please be sure to choose the item you want to bid on from the pull down list! We ask for your name, email and phone number so that we know who is winning and how to contact the winner. Add your bid to the form and then click ‘click here to submit your bid’. A new page will open to let you know we have received your bid with an option to return to the main auction page in case you want to place more bids on other items!
How do I know if I'm the highest bidder?
Please keep checking back regularly throughout the week to make sure that the bid value you submitted is winning! In order that all the money raised goes to the pre-school the committee have opted to do the webpage and admin ourselves. This means that each day we’ll be manually updating every item’s highest bid. This will be on a bit of a ‘as and when possible’ basis! Please bear with us, and keep coming back to see how your favourite items are doing!
How do I win an item?
The auction is open from Monday 21st June through to Sunday 27th June when it closes at 8pm. The highest bidder for each item at 8pm on Sunday 27th June wins that item! If there is a flurry of bids towards the end of the auction – it’s unlikely that we’ll be able to update in real time. It might be best to place a bid that can’t be beaten!!
If I do win, what happens next?
The auction closes at 8pm on Sunday 27th June. All of our winners will receive an email soon after this. We’ll invite all winners to pay their winning bid amount – we’ll include our BACS details, and alternative ways to pay. As soon as we have received payment, we can arrange for you to collect your item!
What are you raising money for?
Every single penny will go towards funds for the pre-school. We are currently saving up for the creation of a very special all-weather outdoor area for use throughout all seasons for our little people to enjoy!
